Baked chicken wings

Crispy Oven-Baked Chicken Wings with Alabama White Sauce (No Air Fryer Needed!)

Hey everyone! The Super Bowl is coming up, and you know what that means—it’s wing time! 🏈🍗

Not everyone has an air fryer, and deep frying can be messy and smelly. So today, I’m going to show you how to make extra crispy chicken wings in the oven. Yes, crispy wings—no frying, no air fryer—just your oven!

What You’ll Need:

  • Chicken wings – Use whatever you like (drums or flats).
  • Dry rub – Full of flavor. (Ingredients listed below)
  • Baking powder – This is the secret to crispy skin!
  • A wire rack – Helps air flow and makes the wings crisp evenly.
  • Cooking spray – To stop the wings from sticking.
  • Alabama White Sauce – A tangy, creamy sauce that goes great with wings.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Preheat Your Oven

Set your oven to 400°F (about 200°C).

2. Dry the Wings

Pat your chicken wings really well with paper towels. The drier they are, the crispier they’ll be.

3. Prepare Your Baking Tray

Use a baking sheet with a wire rack on top. Spray the rack with cooking spray so nothing sticks.

4. Add the Dry Rub

Mix your wings with the dry rub using your hands. Make sure every piece is fully coated. Don’t let the wings touch each other on the rack—they need space to get crispy!

Put the skin side up so that it gets nice and golden.

5. Bake the Wings

  • Bake for 20 minutes at 400°F.
  • Then, rotate the tray 180 degrees (just turn it around).
  • Bake for another 15–20 minutes.
  • The wings should reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

Let them rest a few minutes. Even after you take them out, the heat inside will finish cooking them.

How to Make Alabama White Sauce:

This sauce is creamy, tangy, and a little spicy. It’s different from your usual ranch or blue cheese dip.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mayonnaise (Duke’s is great!)
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish (add more if you like heat)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Cayenne pepper (for a little kick)

Mix it all together:

Whisk everything until smooth. If you want it spicier, just add more cayenne or horseradish. Taste as you go and adjust it how you like.

Let the sauce chill in the fridge until your wings are ready.

Time to Eat!

Take the wings out of the oven—they should be golden, crispy, and delicious. Sprinkle a little lemon pepper on top for a final flavor kick.

Dip them in the Alabama white sauce and enjoy every crispy, juicy bite!
